This performative intervention enacts gestures of care while attending to the needs of other artists programmed in the festival. From grabbing coffees to helping move materials, their support varies depending on the artists' needs. In turn, one member of The Bureau will be designated to attend to the other Bureau members. This cycle of caring for and being cared for highlights the often invisible work involved in supporting artistic programming, bringing to light these otherwise mundane yet significant aspects of an event's execution.
@noncompetitive.researchThe Bureau of Noncompetitive Research is a Montreal-based collective founded in 2021. They explore how slow philosophy, dialogue, collaboration, pedagogy, and public space intersect through academic and artistic projects such as Slowness and the Institution (2021), Pedagogy and Time (2022), Giving Nothing (2023), and The Bureau of Noncompetitive Research (2023-24). They are currently taking applications and are available for hire.
