In this performative mapping, fragments of 14th Street will be captured slowly and laboriously at 1:1 scale. Working with old, abandoned maps—which hold personal memories and histories, and which have been combined into one piece—the artist will incorporate seemingly insignificant features from the ground surface, as well as fragments of passing conversation, rain, and dust. From a distance, the artist may appear to be way-finding, fieldworking, or just lost. you.are.here /// offers an alternative way of navigating and knowing a city. It presents drawing and mapping as a care-full engagement with the world. You are invited to stop and add your own drawing to the map. Drawing is a form of care-full noticing.
