This temporal work was born out of a wish to engage people on the street with an idea of fundamental human importance: Peace. How would people respond to the word "PEACE" written in cornstarch on the sidewalk? Would they notice it at all? Would they walk around it or tread on it? Or would they take steps to protect it? It hopes to offer a moment or open a space to pause for individual, collective, and communal reflection and to (re)activate our imagination and hope for peace.

Nishizawa seeks to present an opportunity for self-reflection, to stimulate thought, and to encourage observation. He employs a wide range of media and methods to turn the viewers’ gaze inward as they navigate throughout the unfamiliar. His interest and investigation deal with the influence of technology on our experience of the world around us.
