This performance examines the effect of local emissions on global climate change. A masked figure wears a headdress inspired by Eastern European carnival costumes that denote the changing of seasons. The figure has emerged from the melting permafrost to examine microclimates in New York City by using sensors to test the air and soil. These microclimates contribute to shifts in temperatures and weather patterns worldwide. Togeth

Amelia Marzec engages with communications infrastructure to inform a speculative future. Her work is exhibited internationally, at SIGGRAPH, MIT, ISEA, and New Museum‚ Rhizome ArtBase. She was a fellow or resident at Eyebeam, Ox-Bow, Harvestworks, NYFA, Columbia. She has an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons, and a BFA from Rutgers.
